Driving sustainable housing innovation.
A regional council with a broader sustainable vision
Catalina Regional Council is an alliance of seven Perth councils sharing a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and high-quality built form.
We’re dedicated to creating a quality urban environment. One that demonstrates the best in sustainable housing innovation and development practice to make sustainable living and a smaller environmental footprint feasible for more Perth families.
Our mission to make sustainable living achievable
It began with a shared goal: To provide simple, affordable choices for building a quality home that’s much cheaper to run, more comfortable to live in all year round and easily adaptable as people’s needs change, all with a lower environmental impact. These are the foundations on which we’ve built our sustainable demonstration home in Catalina Green Display Village.
“We wanted our display home to demonstrate how sustainable housing design is easily doable on any budget. With any home builder. On any street in Perth, or Australia.”
Tony Krsticevic – Chair, Catalina Regional Council
Built on industry and government collaboration
Led by Catalina Regional Council, passive solar design experts Solar Dwellings and award-winning small builders Nulook Homes, the Catalina Sustainable Home project stands as a shining example of industry and government collaboration.
We’re also incredibly honoured to work with Liveable Housing Australia (LHA) to create a safer, more comfortable and accessible home design, along with trusted energy compliance experts Leading Energy ESD.

Our demonstration home is located at the Catalina Green Display Village in Perth’s northern suburb of Clarkson – a new community demonstrating best practice in sustainable urban design, development and innovation.
With a focus on conserving natural areas, tree retention and planting, use of recycled construction materials and incentives for energy-efficient home design, Catalina Green Estate is consciously paving the way to a better future in urban living.
